Shifting Selves

There is nothing permanent except change
Heraclitus (Greek philosopher)

In the backdrop of the bulging aspirations of 21st century India, incredible dreams are being realized every day, perhaps at the cost of perishing memoirs and shrinking identities. As the country steps into the ambitious realm of power-economy and redefines itself amongst the capital giants of world, a shift happens at the country’s innermost core - its vernacular identity.
This vernacular identity that is so varied yet special in its individuality, stemming from the culture of the ‘local’ is perceived more of a hindrance than an asset. In the way of conforming to the global standard of uniformity, exigency to salute uniqueness of a culture is sacrificed.
Burgeoning metropolises expand at lightning speed to etch a new identity in World History devouring spaces, livelihoods and cultures. In this high speed zone of mega dreams and developments, relations both familial and topographic, languages, race and customs are ironed out to a form an unremarkable uniformity that disregards individuality and variance.
